Fibsville is Danny Michel's third solo recording. It's a collection of songs, ranging from quiet piano tunes, to full rock mode. There are also a couple of live gems tucked onto the end of the record, making it an entire listening experience.

Danny ist ein Musiker, den ich in Kitchener/Waterloo kennen gelernt habe. Er ist dort jede Woche in verschiedenen Kneipen aufgetreten und hat neben wenigen seiner eigenen Songs hauptsächlich Cover-versionen verschiedenster Musiker und Bands gespielt. Aber seine Interpretationen gefielen mir meistens schon wesentlich besser als die Originale. Mit der Zeit spielte er immer mehr seiner eigenen Songs. 1997 kam dann sein erstes Solo-Album heraus (Zuvor spielte Danny bei der Gruppe “The Rhinos”), ein Jahr später sein zweites. Im Augenblick arbeitet er mit einer neuen Band (Starling) an einer neuen Platte.

JUNO FOR BEST SONGWRITER

WHO WILL WIN: If quality was the requirement, Bruce Cockburn would take it. But, more than likely, the person responsible for the most irritating, stick-in-your-mind-until-you-want-to-kill-yourself single will walk away with a Juno, and that would be Tal "She's So High" Bachman. Alanis Morissette is too wordy, Amanda Marshall too faceless and Shania Twain (who's definitely in the running), too . . . well, too un-songwriter-like.

WHO SHOULD WIN: Cockburn is the best of the bunch, even if radio won't listen any more.

OUR IDEAL WINNER: Danny Michel. An absolutely captivating performer and a gifted lyricist who smashes most of the preconceptions we bring to the "singer/songwriter" genre.
