An album that charted internationally, shot to number one in eight countries and literally changed history (well, do Canadian content regulations count as history?), Waking Up the Neighbours put Canadian music on the world map in 1991. The Danes call it Law of Jante — as Canadians, we tend to get embarrassed when one of our own makes it big around the world. But if you were alive and conscious in 1991, "(Everything I Do) I Do It For You" (lyrics, chord changes, gravelly vocals and all) is now permanently ingrained in your psyche. And that's a good thing, cause it's effing awesome.
